2705-2 So today we will continue to look at small portable table saws and see what Makita has to offer in this area. Makita has been manufacturing tools for over 100 years and is known for the quality and precision of the tools used by professionals around the world.
As far as portable saws are concerned, Makita has two offers. 2705 and 2705X1. It is exactly the same saw, but the X1 is equipped with Makita’s very clever folding support system, which I will work on later.

Height and weight
At 65.5 pounds, the Makita 2705 is slightly heavier than other saws in this class. (The DeWalt DWE7480 is available with a weight of 48 lbs), but it’s very easy to move from one location to another. The size of the table is very respectable: 24-4/8 x 22-1/4. With the side extension of the table on the right side you can get a maximum saw cut of 25, which means you can break 6×4 sheets with this saw.
Precision machined worktops produce a large, flat surface that remains flat during use and ensures even greater accuracy.
This saw is equipped with a very impressive 15 ampere brush motor, which operates at a higher speed of 4800 rpm and has an electronic brake. The motor of this saw is capable of driving a 13/16 dado blade, which is very unusual for a saw of this size. So if it’s a function you really need, it could just be a saw for you. This saw can easily break up a thick mass in one go, and I am glad that Makita paid attention to the motor of this saw, because it is certainly one of the most powerful in the field of portable table saws.
Knife and embossed knife
The 2705 is equipped with a tool-free blade protection system, and the wedge/slide blade has three different positions for cuts, wedge-less cuts and dado cuts – and you can adjust this without removing the throat plate.
Like most other saws, the Makita 2705 is equipped with a 32-tooth carbide tip. It has been sharpened in the factory and will do a decent job, but like most knives that come from the factory, it still seems to be an area where most manufacturers try to save a few dollars. Naked for the thought that you might need a high-quality after-market saw blade to really get the most out of your table saw.
A frayed fence always results in a clean and well-made saw, so it is important that saw manufacturers pay attention to the fence. And that’s exactly what Makita did. The fence of this saw is located above the fence of Bosch 4100-09. It can be easily and precisely assembled, over and over again. I have seen a few comments from users who have found that the fence has not been installed correctly, but this can easily be corrected with some adjustments and should give accurate results everywhere. The machined worktop comes with 3/8 x 3/4 T-slots with T-feet for universal cutting.
I really like the Makita 2705 as a portable table saw. It’s about 16 pounds heavier than the other saws in this area, but it’s not bad for me. The fact that it has an amazing tearing power and a powerful motor that can easily tear through a thick bed and even pick up a dado sheet causes many boxes to fall over. And we hope he will do the same for you. I also like the security features you get with this saw.
